Government’s expanded large-scale investment in electric power due to high economic growth
  • Vietnam’s power generation capacity has grown almost fourfold from 11GW in 2005 → 37.5GW in 2015
  • Share of Power Facilities : The largest share is hydroelectric power (16.4GW). Coal-fired power has grown fourfold from 2.7GW in 2010 → 12.2GW in 2015
  • USD 148 billion will be invested in power generation, transmission and distribution by 2030
    - Vietnam’s 7th Power Development Plan (2020-2030) : Power facility capacity to be expanded from 37.5GW(2015) → 129.5GW(2030),
    Power capacity to be expanded from 164TWh(2015) → 572TWh(2030)
